Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

This policy explains what information DigGitHub (“we”, “us”) collects when you use diggithub.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. DigGitHub is a directory for discovering, searching and saving open-source projects.

Information we collect

  • Your Google account basics, when you sign in. If you choose “Sign in with Google”, Google shares your Google account ID, email address and name with us. We never see your Google password, and we do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.
  • Your saved projects. When you save (favorite) a project, we store which project you saved and when.
  • Your email address, if you join a waiting list or the newsletter. We store the address you type and which list you joined. We also keep a history of each time the address is signed up or taken off a list: when it happened, and which account did it, if the person was signed in. We write to you only about what you signed up for.
  • The inner circle, if you join it. We note each time you join or leave, and we use the email address of your Google account to write to you about the inner circle. You can leave it at any time on the README page. We then stop writing to you, and keep only the note of when you joined and left.
  • Messages you send us. When you use the feedback form, we store your message, and the email address you give for a reply, if you give one. We use that address only to answer your message. You don't need an account to write to us; if you are signed in, we store the message with your account.
  • Usage and device information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (see below). Clarity runs only when you are not signed in. It shows us where people click and scroll, and records visits so we can replay them. It does not record a page that brings back text you have not sent yet. When you join a waiting list with a typed email address, or send feedback without signing in, we keep a scrambled form of your IP address for one day, only to limit how many one visitor can send. It is not stored as your IP address, and we delete it the next day.

You can browse and search DigGitHub without signing in.

How we use your information

  • To sign you in and keep you signed in.
  • To show you and remember the projects you have saved.
  • To write to you, only about the waiting list, newsletter or inner circle you joined.
  • To read and answer your feedback.
  • To understand which pages and features are used, so we can improve the site.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Information we receive from Google sign-in is used only to provide the sign-in, saved-projects and inner circle features described here, in line with theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Cookies

  • osh_session – keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in; expires after 30 days or when you sign out.
  • osh_oauth_state – a short-lived security cookie used during Google sign-in. Expires after 10 minutes.
  • _ga and _ga_* – set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and sessions. Seehow Google uses data from sites that use its services.
  • _clck and _clsk – set by Microsoft Clarity to tell visitors apart and to join the pages of one visit. Microsoft may also set its own cookies, such as MUID.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, you will not be able to sign in, but you can still browse and search. You can opt out of Google Analytics with theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Who processes your data

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and stores our database and sign-in sessions (Cloudflare privacy policy).
  • Google provides sign-in and Google Analytics (Google privacy policy).
  • Microsoft provides Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft privacy statement).

These providers may process data in countries other than your own.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information and saved projects for as long as your account exists. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your saved projects, suggestions, reports, messages, and your list sign-ups with their history. We keep a record that the account existed, with only the first and last five characters of your name and email address, so that its number is never given to someone else. History that names the account, such as a list sign-up it sent for another address, stays with that record. You can no longer sign in to it. We write to an address on a waiting list, the newsletter or the inner circle until you leave or ask us to remove it. After that we stop writing to it, and keep only a note of the list, the address and its history (when it joined and left, and which account did it), so we can respect your choice. A reply address you give with feedback is kept with that message. If a form can't be sent, we keep what you typed for up to 7 days so you don't lose it; only someone with the private link to it can see it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailinggetaxtools@gmail.com. Please send the request from the email address linked to your account. You can also remove DigGitHub’s access to your Google account at any time from yourGoogle account settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.

DigGitHub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
